Monday Prompt: Think about a time when you completed an assignment without fully understanding what the teacher was looking for. How might knowing the “ins and outs” of a rubric change the way you approach an assignment? Connect your experience to what you learned today about the AP Lang Argument Essay rubric.

Prompt Response: The ins and outs of a rubric would change how I do an assignment dramatically. Having a rubric gives me structure, something to build on. I know exactly what criteria I would need to have to get full credit. With a rubric, it explains what each point is worth and how to get it, which is the guidance that leads me to getting full marks on my papers. Today, when we went over the rubric for an argumentative essay, I learned that our evidence is the most important part of the essay, so I will continue to work on that until I perfect it.

Summary: Today in class, we went over the rubric for the AP Lang exam Argumentative Essay.

Reflection: Today in class, I learned the criteria for an argumentative essay. I learned that the evidence portion of the rubric is worth 4/6 points which is important to have if I want a 3 or higher on the exam.
